| So who am I? I'm an avid modeler from the southern United States. I have been involved in the Model Aviation hobby since 1979. I initially flew Control Line and FreeFlight and moved to RC in 1985. I still fly control line and freeflight occasionally, however my focus remains RC. During my involvement in the hobby, I have designed and scratchbuilt 95% of what I have flown. That is approximately 200 different airframes over the years. That volume is made up of everything from indoor freeflight duration models to discus launch gliders and on to 3D foamies, profiles and giant scale birds. Also included in that number are many airplanes which have been featured in magazines or produced as kit or ARF's available to all modelers. Competition wise, I grew up flying in competition funfly's and in pylon races. By a very early age, I was regularly beating people 3 and 4 times my age in funfly competitions and pylon races. As those two segments of competition lost popularity, I moved to 3D and Precision aerobatics. Though those facets of the hobby occupy most of my time, I still build and design scale models, pylon racers and even 3ch putt-putt's. I write for several publications including Quiet Flyer, 3D Flyer, RC Sport Flyer, EzoneMag.com and FlyingGiants.com Beyond the hobby, I'm an avid cyclist and duck hunter. I'm father of a beautiful little girl and have been lucky enough to marry my highschool sweetheart. I make my living in the automotive industry. |
